Hello from the mitten. I'm a 58 year old trail rider and dual sport rider who just picked up a pristine 2008 wr250r yesterday. bone stock except lowered with a yamalink with 4 k on the clock. I've been drinking the orange kool-aid for quite a while now, but decided to give the low displacement and lower maintenance route a try, at least for my dual sport mount. I've owned several DRZ 400's (needs a wide ratio tranny) XRL 650 (too heavy suspension from 1970's, needs tons of mods to run right) DR650's (same as xrl only yellow) and lots of RFS KTMs (great trail bikes and has legs with a wide ratio 6 speed but very maintenance intensive, vibration prone and twitchy on the road) My first impressions of the little WR are good. just have to get everything dialed in and adjust my power expectation to that of a 250 4 stroke. Hope to learn from the experiences of others who have done this all before.
