just attached a usb port to the bike but i ve wired it directly to the battery. is there a simple way to wire it so it only comes on when i turn the ignition on?

You can use a relay and tap it in but by far the easiest is if you have installed the DRC tail light assembly you remove the old numberplate light so there is a free wire waiting for you.

There are plenty of way this is just a simple easy one but remember to put a fuse on it.

i like using the cheap bosch relay method,,, that way nothing gets accidently left on when the bike is shut off..

the WR license plate wire makes a great power source tap  to energize the relay as the switched power source.

how to HERE

like speersie said... + 1 is using the fuse!!

Since I have my USB charger on the handle bars, I tapped into the front running lights (blue wire going to turn signals I think) to switch a relay circuit for all my accessories.
