Thniking of going with an FMF slipon exhaust.

Anyone know the difference between the Powercore and the Q4? I'd like the bike to sound like a supermoto but not be outragiously loud.

From what i read...The Q4 its the quietest. And the powercore is more load.
I bought a Yoshimura RS2...And i LOVE IT...a real nice deep sound.(it seems like mostly supermoto guys get it though idk why.)

It's a matter of noise.

We were supposed to compare your stock WR to mine with the Q4, but of course you had to go and bugger yourself up at the end of the season. amazon

The weekend is looking kind of crapy or I'd offer to bring it by so you could hear.

on eBay the Powercore's were all way cheaper than the Q4. These are new units not used.

Way cheaper than $270 for a slip-on? Delivered?

Can you bank on the source from eBay?
Service and return policies if anything is wrong?
Does the eBay unit include the spark arrestor and coupling sleeve?

I'm not a trusting soul when it comes to eBay, plus I do think helping site sponcers if they are are not really ripping you off is a good idea. Kinda like every now and then buying hardware from the local private store rather than going to Home Depot or Lowes.

It's up to you...but sometimes "too good to be true" really is too good to be true.

You're a member at SMJ right? email/pm motostrano and ask them about meeting prices you find.

I looked it up last night but IIRC the price was $230 or maybe slightly less. Not sure what shipping is gonna be but it would probably end up being fairly close to the Motostrano price if that does include shipping. However I do remember someone bitching and complaining about service from Motostrano on SMJ.

Truthfully I was hoping to find a source in Canada to avoid the issue of bringing stuff across the border. At this point I'm not in a huge hurry so i can spend the time to find the best place to buy from.

Zed, where did you get yours from?

Check with Dennis Kirk. They'll match prices and have always provided excellent service, in my experience.

I know I got it from an ebay store. There were two at the time that had them for similar prices. One of them had significantly lower cost shipping option. It may have been Piston Motorsports.

Do you think the Q4 is loud enough or would you like a bit more noise?

Yup. Nail the throttle and people will hear you. Keep the throttle mostly closed and you just might not attract too much attention from the constabulary.

I wouldn't want to live beside me with anything louder.

Yes, every other vendor I have seen sells the Powercore for less than the Q4. That's why I said you got a sweet deal. I bet Motostrano got it backwards when they put it up on the site.

I got mine(Powercore full system) off ebay for cheaper than anywhere I looked, including SMJ sponsors. No issues what so ever.

Went to my local dealer and his cost is about twice what I can get the same can for on ebay. GAHHHH

Think I will be going the ebay route after all as you just can't compete with those kind of prices.

Luckily, I was able to get my Q4,Powerbomb & Programmer for real close to the best Ebay prices and support my local shop. I do some work for them and give them good prices. They give me good prices back. I do know what you mean though. It's hard sometimes to give the local shop the dough when the prices can be so drastically different online.

And, as a bonus here in cow town, the dealer doesn't actually carry anything you want. So, they have to order it. And, you have to pay for it in advance. And, because it's a 'special order' it doesn't matter if what you order fits/works/is the right part/etc. you're stuck with it. And, the dealers wonder why we mail order everything from the U.S.???? scratch

I had Rich at Redline look it up on Parts Canada and his price was over $400. And he tells me that Parts Canada doesn't want to order anything they don't regularily carry anyway so realistically there is no option but to mail order it from the US.

I wouldn't worry about buying something off ebay too much. Most of the people selling on there now are real brick and mortar shops looking for another way to sell stuff.

I got a Q4, power bomb, and programmer for around $600 shipped from a guy whose name was something like Biohazzard off ebay. I just emailed him and asked what's the best he could do for all three. Ended up being much less than if you bought them separately.

Good luck. The Q4 is PLENTY loud...sounds good though!

I did a bit of searching (google is your friend) and found that ThumperTalk had the best price by far for the bits I wanted. Second was a place called Motorcycle Superstore. Motostrano was a distant third.

I ordered the FMF Powercore slipon and the FMF EFI controller and the cost delivered to Canada via USPS was $475 usd.

Motorcycle Superstore would have been about $25 more and Motostrano was a wopping $143 more expensive for the same items.

So we are getting a new slipon muffler and power controller for Xmas this year. Finally the little WRX is gonna sound like a real motard. wings
