2011 wr250r will run then 2hrs later will not fire

Just got this bike. It has 60 miles on it. I brought it to the mechanic and they replaced the air filter, battery, fuel pump, and spark plug. They got it to run and when I went to pick it up it would not fire. I came back two days later and they had it running again. When I got there it took a while to cold start but it finally fired up and I took it for a spin. It seemed to be ok. I loaded it up and when I tried to fire it up 6hrs later it would not fire. Help me

Was this bike sitting for years with old gasoline in the fuel system?

It sat for like almost 2 years

I wonder if the fuel injector needs a cleaning or replacement.
They can get plugged-up and corroded like carburetors can.

Mechanic said they checked that and it seemed to be ok. It's crazey it will run then not fire. They also said he rained the tank and mixed in some better fuel. How much to replace injector.

It lists for about $165.
I can't say with certainty that's the problem, but it's possible.

Has anybody inspected the whole bike for rodent damage?
They love to chew wires.
They love to build nests.

Does it have spark when it won't start?

I hope they didnt charge you for the work and parts that didnt help to fix the problem

Check in diag mode to see if there are any faultcodes than can give you a sign. Have you checked for spark when the bike is unable to start?

I'm bringing it back to the shop today and mention all this to them. Fingers crossed.

Why did they replace all these parts? What was wrong with the bike to begin with? What was the history of the bike?

The bike ran fine and was put away/parked for like Two years with no proper winter care. Also had a tank of gas in it that went south. I went to pick it up and found that mice were having their fun in the air box with a nest and all kinds of fecal matter. They did nibble the costing of a couple wires but no break threw of the copper wiring itself. I drained the gas and then charged battery and it would not fire. I dumped some starter fluid in it and got it to fire and run on it. I found that the fuel pump was not working or I couldn't here it anyways so that was one problem. Well of course I fouled the plug dumping starter fluid in it as well. But it ran. So it took it to the mechanic, he put in a new battery, fuel pump, plug, and a new air filter. The bike ran but had a problem cold starting, anyways I went to pick it up and even took it for a spin after we got it to start after numerous attempts and it ran ok. It did have a dead spot in the throttle but once I got on it hard it ran fine. I loaded it up and 6 hrs later it would not fire up at all. I'm woundering if it's an injector or there is some bad gas still in the lines??? I'm just impatient and kinda rushed the mechanic, probably should have let him totally go over it. I just don't want it to get out of my budget range

That was the wrong diagnosis; if the motor is running, then the fuel pump is working. If fuel pump was not working, then the motor would never start.

In any case, from what you say the bike is back at the dealer, so it is their responsibility to make it work properly.

Unfortunately, intermittent issues are the hardest to fix, the machine has to act up while in the wrenchers presence to be troubleshot, and I don't know of any mechanics that don't charge for the parts n time that didn't fix it. It'd really suck from his stand point if he couldn't charge you... Fortunately people who work on engines know they have three basic needs... spark, air, n fuel. It simply has to have the issue while he's fuckin with it n he has to figure out what it doesn't have n go thro that system. Unless your unsure of his capabilities let him do his thing. U may have to go there n ride it for a couple hours to get it to act up.

Without knowing what system is at fault all your gonna get off here is guesses. It could be anything from part of a mouse or nest blockin the works to a faulty injector to a wire that's mostly there but just has enough missin to short as it heats up. The only thing that might be useful to him is to make sure hes aware of the onboard diagnostic system. This clip shows you how to get into it.
