I could use some help solving the following issue.
About a month ago my 08 WR250R developed a new issue. While riding my bike, it turns off. It appears to be random - not at all for a few days and then once or twice in another day. It will often happen when I am at a constant speed of 10-15 mph on a relatively smooth dirt road.
When it dies, if I touch nothing but the starter button, the starter does not engage and nothing else happens either. However, if I turn the kill switch off then on, the bike starts right up without an problem. To me, this indicates an electrical issue. I suspect some sensor trips and causes the bike to turn off. If it is a sensor, it must be one that does not throw an error code and also gets reset with the kill switch. The fuel is not always great here in Kenya, but since the shutdown is so quick without any sputtering and the restart is crisp, I was thinking it did not feel like a fuel issue.
A couple mods that may or may not matter: FMF Power Programmer with exhaust and a safari tank.
Any ideas on where I should be looking?
On another note, this is my first post here but I have been an avid reader every since I bought this bike. The collective knowledge here is remarkable and you all have helped me to solve many issues with my bike. Thank you for taking the time to help.
