MAGNETIC DRAIN BOLT! Empty
PostSubject: MAGNETIC DRAIN BOLT!   MAGNETIC DRAIN BOLT! EmptyFri Oct 13, 2017 9:18 pm

So today I performed the first oil change on the 2011 WRR I bought used in July. Hiflo 140 filter and, of course, Shell Rotella synthetic T6 5-40 weight. And I would say that I was SHOCKED to discover the previous owners had not installed a magnetic drain plug. I WOULD say that, but in case they did not I had preordered one from rockymtn, and expected to be listing it on ebay for a loss. https://www.rockymountainatvmc.com/p/924/60234/Tusk-Magnetic-Drain-Bolt

Nope... BUT IT DOES NOW!
If you do not have a magnetic drain bolt installed in not just your bikes, but ALL of your vehicles, you sir, (madam) ARE AN IDIOT! you should. Do it today! (OR AT LEAST ON YOUR NEXT OIL CHANGE)

Heck, my 1972 Husqvarna CR125R MX BIKE came from the factory from SWEDEN (or my local dealer put it in) way back then.  Should be a common factory item by now.

Hey now...  don't get all uppity because the SEC is the best Football Division in the World.

cheers

BTW I did order a magnetic drain plug for my WRR but it didn't fit. Wouldn't mind finding one that does. Maybe find an aluminum magnetic drain plug made out of unobtainium.

I usually drill my drain plug, and install a neodymium magnet in it, way better than the cheap magnets in most drainplugs. thumb
I have yet to call anyone who doesnt do this, an a-hole Shog

I did this, but I'm still an idiot.... wtf... scratch

Mine does get some really fine stuff on it. Not sure if I should be worried or if it's normal, wear from clutch plates or something....

spotted on the procycle page:
OIL FILTER MAGNET $13.95
Reduce wear, and significantly increase your engine life.
Easy to install. Place on outer side of filter.
Powerful magnet traps abrasive metal particles down to 1 micron. OEM oil filters only filter particles down to 90 microns, leaving behind the most harmful particles to circulate through your engine.
https://procycle.us/bikepages/wr250rx.html

think I'll pick up one of these as well for my next oil change... or i could lean the bike over enough against the side of the house, to just pull the filter cover and go ahead and install when it arrives.
