| Why did you go with the 130 for the rear? Didn't do too much searching, but thought I saw a 140. Looks good, will be watching to see what you think. | |

| my bad, updated - it is the 140. Guess I was too excited that I typed the wrong size in. Took another short ride, I think these tires will work great for my use ( mostly highway - some dirt/gravel roads ). Wanted Distanzias but the whole setup for less than the rear distanzia alone convinced me to try these. Some reports on ADV mention some delamination but everyone seems to agree that culprit was overloaded / heavy GS's and Storms with pressures less than 36psi. Somehow I don't believe that my X weighs anywhere near what those bikes weigh.

| Hi superbee24,
Those looks great!!
I'm in the market for some tires myself, if you wouldn't mind can you please take a direct head on front picture and maybe a couple of close ups of the front fork and rear swingarm so I can see how close they are?
Thanks and again, they look sweet!!

| +1... Those look like they'd provide a good balance for light offroad duties. I bet they last a lot longer than knobbies, too. I've got a set of shinko 244's on order.. a little more aggressive than the 700 series. If i was planning a long ride to alaska or to south america, these 705's look pretty good. | |

| Those look good. How tall are the tread blocks? If you don't mind putting a ruler in the groove... Thanks. | |

| I'm coming back from the tire dealer here. I asked about the Shinko and he told me that these tires last a lot. The dark side is that they are slippery on and offroad.
Your test on these will help to know if the dealer knows what he is talking about.

My kids old beat up ruler show them to be about 1/2" - Dancamp wrote:

Your test on these will help to know if the dealer knows what he is talking about. More slippery than Crotch Rocket tires on road - yes... More slippery than Knobbies offroad - yes. They are so far ( approx 60 miles -55road/5gravel road) prefect for me. Great tire for what they are, a true Dual Sport tire with compromises on either end of the spectrum.

Local dealer that I bought my bike from. They were just $7 more expensive than bikebandit so I kept my money local.

| Cool. Keep us updated on the mileage. Those look like good alternatives to Distanzias. I am disappointed that my Distanzias only lasted about 3000 miles.
How is the traction on twisty backroads?
What department are you with?

What department are you with? Austin Fire Dept. I ain't no peg scraper, so they are good for me. They seem to drop in better ( of course, I had a 2inch flat spot on the last rear tire ) and they feel like they want to hold the lean better. Rode to work in the rain the other day just to test the wet road response. They worked fine, but do seem to let loose under heavy breaking ( rear tire ) a little quicker than the original tires. Worked fine in wet road cloverleaf hwy interchange at my normal speeds.

Not being a weenie here....but how long do you expect sportbike-compound tires to last? A lot depends on how you ride obviously, but 3000 miles of brisk, sport-style riding seems pretty darn good. So just curious what you think you should have got in terms of miles? _________________ 2008 WR250X Gearing: 13t - 48t Power Commander 5 / PC-V Airbox Door Removed - Flapper glued - AIS removed FmF Q4 Bridgestone Battlax BT-003rs

So just curious what you think you should have got in terms of miles? I understand tires wear out, BUT , for a 250 to run through a rear tire in under 2500miles when not ridden aggressively is . especially when you pay big bucks for them. For MY style of riding and number of miles I HAVE to give the Shinko's a shot. So far I have put about 300 miles on them. some, dirt, some gravel, some mud, mostly street ( cold-dry-warm-rain ) and I think I have me a WINNER . We'll see how long they last, of course at the price I paid, I can't see staying with these again.
