| Another WR250R Rear Rack (Designed with options)(I’ve had this for a while .. sorry for just getting around to posting) I had been wanting a wide rack to better support the tailbag so I sketched it up in CAD and sent it to Tom at AMS http://www.automotivemachine.com/moto.htm -- he did the analysis and cleaned it up a bit Below is the result .... a very strong rack with plenty of options= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = == = = = = = = Fits and supports my Tailbag perfectly … = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = == = = = = = = Comes with pre-drilled holes for mounting a RotoPax across or front-to-back. = = = = = = The RotoPax should be flipped over so the spout is on the left side of the bike. = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = == = = = = = = Also comes pre-drilled for the Givi MonoKey lugs for mounting a Givi MonoKey Topcase. = = = Plenty of solid Aluminum in the center just in case you come up with something else to solidly mount -- all while still providing plenty of slotted areas for straps and the such. Tom has since adjusted the length of the spacers so the rack is now just a tad bit lower and fits parallel to the rear tail plastic.A couple of pictures with the shorter spacers= = = = = =

| Nice... Great example of form following function as well as overall bike use versatility/adaptation. | |

| Nice rack, is it only going to be available for the WR or are there going to be made as a "universal" thing for most bikes? | |

| Hey SheWolf and Tibarus ... Price -- not cheap - but I like the options, even thou I sketched it up in CAD Tom had to do tons of clean-up in his tooling program as the file didn't translate well ... but now that he has the file additional ones would be easy to make (and cheaper then I paid)- If anyone would like one contact Tom as AMS. Universal -- depends on what you are putting it on -- Talk to Tom - I bet he could make it work. | |

| Thanks for the post. I just ordered a big rack from Automotive Machine and Supply. It should work nicely for my upcoming long ride through the mountains. At the moment I just have a cortech sport tail bag on the back, but this rack should allow me to add a gas tank and larger bags. | |

| I have one of these on my wrr, it made it thru the eastern part of TAT with a helmut bag full of things like a one gal of gas, tools, tubes,extra clothing, tire patch stuff etc., really quite heavy (maybe 20 lbs.). I had shorten the spacers about a quarter inch that came with the rack ( believe Tom is doing that now). The price is fair for members of this thread too. Check it out Berwyn | |

| The most I've ever had on mine is a Med. sized tailbag with just a few pounds of stuff inside ... -- but it uses the same mounting points as the Pro-Moto and a few others and I've seen pictures where others riders have really loaded them up. !! - gatorfan wrote:

| I called those guys and had them make up the small rack, plus add the rotopax holes. They charged me a few more dollars to add that to their program. I rec'd the rack and spacers, but just started looking for the bolts. Of course the two big DIY stores were of no help, tomorrow I'll check with the specialty places here. A plug for the builders... this rack is cut very nice and clean, topn otch work. | |

| you are spot on with that question. Not on the WRR but on other dual sports I've broken the subframe carrying fuel and a few other things. Now I admit that I ride the bikes aggessively offroad and I'm now very careful on rear rack loading. Just for reference I would take a look at the OEM rack which uses subframe braces. - gatorfan wrote:

| Hey .... Had a question on how I attached the tailbag to the rack. The tailbag comes with built-in bungees - but I don't like to use bungees ! --- the tailbag also comes with straps that have a male end to attach them to soft panniers if used. You can see them on TCIproductsusa.com .. I saw that TCI had made up some custom extension straps .. so I contacted them to see if thay could make up a female-to-female strap to connect the two ends on the tailbag together. See the pictures below -- they will show how these work -- and they work GREAT. Tom at TCI was going to get some more female-to-female straps made up to post on his web site to sell .. but last I looked I didn't see them yet. I bet if a couple more riders were to contact him to show interest he would make up some. https://tciproductsusa.com/index.php?main_page=contact_us the pictures ... = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = == = = = = = And here's a couple of pictures showing the same tailbag and straps working on the TCI rack on the Super Sherpa --- = = = = | |

| I just received my Automotive Machine Supply Tri-Square Rack. It included the different length spacers but no screws. Does anyone remember what size screws they used? I think I saw flat M6-1 70mm posted somewhere but not sure. | |

70mm. There are fixed nuts in the subframe. 70mm gives you just enough length to add a locknut. I got them from Mcmaster.com. Part # 92125A258 Metric 18-8 SS Flat Head Socket Cap Screw M6 Size, 70mm Length, 1.00mm Pitch, Packs of 5 Also, the spacers are not the same length. Make sure you try it both ways so the rack sits right (I forget if the longer ones are up front or back).

| Thanks gatorfan, that's exactly the info I needed! I may have the rear rack powder coated to match the Wolfman side racks that I'm considering. I'll post up some pics if I go that route.
In the meantime, I'll latch up my Givi E45 to handle my commuting needs. I really like the quality and versatility of this design.
