| Poo Dee: How, maybe the question is why, would you consider going from a motard (assuming it's still tarded) to an adventure bike ?
Consider the source here. ...this is coming from a guy with four different style bikes. I can't see trading between styles.
Buy one of each !
P.S. I'm a big Beemer fan. As far as I am concerned, everything they make rocks ! ...but I only owned one - a Y2K 540i.

| The bike's probably in gear with the rear wheel rolled back against the engine compression. Done to keep it from rolling backwards. Top chain run is taught, bottom slack. Slack is exaggerated.
Myself? No thanks. A bike like that is waaaaaaay too big and heavy for what I want in dual-purpose bike.

| From BMW's site:
Unladen weight, road ready, fully fuelled 455 lbs (207 kg)
Dry weight 392 lbs (178 kg)
No thanks... that is too heavy for what I do.

G 450 X engine is made in TAIWAN by kymco and the engine from G650 is made in CHINA http://www.motorradonline.de/de/motorraeder/news/bmw-g-650-motoren-aus-china/157358 (might want to translate that)

| Yeah not to mention if you go over 70 for any extended spurts on it your warranty is void. _________________ A wolf's voice echoed down the mountain 'Share the bounty of the hunt with your brothers and sisters, and forever be strong and free.' | |

| Yeah, go figure. I was looking at one before the R and the sales guy told me they are real sticky about it. The computer logs it if you go over 70 for any extended periods...by bye warranty. User's manual tells you that too. Funky little brain tool they use will show it as soon as they plug the bike in for a diagnostic. _________________ A wolf's voice echoed down the mountain 'Share the bounty of the hunt with your brothers and sisters, and forever be strong and free.' | |

... BMW F800GS ...
Just face it. One bike isn't enough. They're all different and special. The 800GS wouldn't be my second though... nor third... nor my fifth... maybe at number Seven I might find room for a 1200GS. But hey, to each his own

| IF.....IF I got it,it would be my fouth bike in my stable. I take home the girl I brought to the dance. But I must be a bike polygamist. I keep the old one when I get a new one. Really suprising to hear so many people think I would abandon my Sheila..... I've never been interested in doing dirt until I got my X. I won't buy another bike for at LEAST another year..... | |

| A friend I often ride with reacted exactly like that. He owns the 800GS and it's reaction has been through my WR when he tried it.
The 800GS is a dual purpose road oriented bike. The WR is a dual purpose trail oriented bike.
