| i have 2 XR250s and a KTM 525 and i just sold a KLR650 and i'm about to replace it with a WR250R. I've liked this bike since Yamaha first introduced it and i'm about to purchase one. i've owned several DTs in the 70s and an XT, but have not owned a Yamaha in quite a while. I took my KLR to Alaska & the Yukon as far as the Arctic Ocean and every time i came back my friends didn't understand how i could ride such a small bike that far. can't wait until i take a 250 on the same trip. they will think i've lost my mind; it's a small loss. I'd like to hear from anyone else that has tackled such a trip. | |

| Welcome aboard! Yeah, I laugh at how people think the KLR is too small to travel a distance on. I consider it my big pig of the fleet. I don't know of anyone going to Alaska on a WR, but I know there a few here that have traversed the continent on it. Many people have done RTW trips on XT225s so in time I expect we'll hear from more people doing long trips on the WR. | |

| I haven't heard of that one, but I did run across a guy who rode from Minneapolis all the way here to where I am in BC, in 4 days on his. He loved it. _________________ A wolf's voice echoed down the mountain 'Share the bounty of the hunt with your brothers and sisters, and forever be strong and free.' | |

| There is a guy from MX who just joined and he's riding his from TX to AK next year.
I was trying to find a way to hook up with him and join him ! ...but this little thing called work keeps me thinking it may not be doable.
I need to get out more often.
Let's hear the plan Stan. | |

| No plan. load my gear, get on the bike, follow the front tire to Yukon, Alaska, NW territories, or whereever it goes. i'm still caught up in that work thing also and i've been to there 3 times on my KLR; '06, '08, & '10. i think my next trip will be 2012 or 2013. | |

| It'll make it easily, just mind your fuel range. I moved to Alaska (fairbanks) on mine from Maryland back in April, BigDog has ridden his to Mexico and to Alaska and everywhere in between, and many others have done bigger or smaller trips. | |
