| So for those of us with the WRX that want to convert to WRR...
Can I order up a complete WRR wheel with small rotor, buy a WRR caliper, and have it bolt right in? Do the WRR use a completely different caliper than the wrx? Is there a different bracket for the wrr as well, or does it just bolt right to the fork? |

| Complete WRR wheel set with smaller front WRR rotor, WRR caliper and you might also want the WRR fork guards. WRR and WRX use a different caliper, the mounting bracket is part of the caliper that set the distance required for the WRR or WRX rotor. Either caliper will bolt up to the forks, the integral bracket is what sets the distance for the two rotors. | |

| Wheeling Cycle will sell you a set of wheels to run knobbies on your WRX. There are a bunch of ways you can set it up. For a WRX the easy way is to use X hub with a 21 in front rim. Then use the X caliper and front disc. This way you do not need to swap the caliper.
The calipers for the WRR and WRX are different. To run the 250 MM front disc (or the 320MM oversized ones), you need a WRR front hub, and WRR caliper.

I've seen the wheeling cycle wheels but just don't have $800 to spend right now. If I ordered a spare WRX hub would I need special spokes to lace it up to a 21" wheel? I was planning on doing this and running a 17" knobby in the rear. |

I think the R and X hubs have a different angle for the spokes so it not as easy as buy X hub and R spokes/rim. Another plug for Forrest, he can custom make the wheels for you, give him a call. If the cash is tight just go with the 17in knobbies front and back. The X with the 17in knobbies looks really mean, I would love to ride one back to back with my R (AC-10's not stock rubber). this bike NEEDS mud: please add mud

| OK, I'm going to drag this on... Last I remember checking, the X rotor is a 298mm, correct me if I'm wrong. Is there anything out there that has the R hub bolt pattern in a 298mm rotor?
Reason I ask is because I currently have a X with a set of R wheels. I am kinda an inpatient person and I dont want to have to swap out the caliper, brake lines, and lever every time I want to switch. I would like to just switch out the wheels every time without having to mess with the rest of the brake system.
OR, will an EBC rotor kit with relocator bracket work? I'm guessing not though.

| The EBC rotor kit with relocator bracket will work with the R hub and R caliper. | |

| Couldn't one just get some street tires for the rims that the WR250R already comes with and not have to worry about anything else? | |

| They could. But it would be more of a cruiser setup with the big narrow front rim. Also, who wants to dig out the tire irons and change two tires whenever they feel like swapping between road/dirt? | |

| In my situation, i had the wrr for off road use and lite on road. I have now purchased an exclusive off-road bike and wanted to convert my wrr to street only. Just looking for the best/cheapest way to do that. | |

| My question is how feasible it would be to use an X size front disc on a R front wheel. And leaving the caliper on the relocation bracket all the time. In order to simply have to swap out the wheels. Also has anyone used these guys conversion sets?

| just threw 17s on my "R," compliments of John92, with 12/45 gearing..... fun fun fun. Hooligan status in full effect!!!!
I really do hope Yamaha does come out with a big brother soon. The bike does have the power, but just can't keep up. Was riding with my buddy on his Aprilla SVX 4.5 and he pretty much spanked me all over the place. And ya i can ride. Anyways, until Yamaha decides to step up their game in the SUMO class i'll ride the shit out of this one.

An SVX with a talented rider will spank most any other supermoto bike out there. As long as it doesn't it's guts out in the process.

| So I am thinking of going from R to X. Anyone with an X thinking of going the other way and swapping wheels and front brake? | |

| Hello.
I also want to do a conversion on my WR250R. My dream is to have a supermoto setup for street, then swap wheels and have off road setup. With minimum hassle. Basically what I do now on my Daytona when I go do track days. Swap wheels, brake pads, plastics, and it's in track trim in couple of hours (I work slow).
For street I want a bigger calipers, and minimum work in swapping back and forth. So looking at all the replies the way to go is: Wheels: http://www.wheelingcyclesupply.com/shop/product/sm-pro-supermoto-wheels-setwr250r/127 Brakes front, with relocation bracket: http://www.wheelingcyclesupply.com/shop/product/ebc-320mm-rotor-wrelocation-bracket/556
So R hub laced to X wheels, with 320mm rotor with relocation bracket. I have few additional questions: My understanding standard R rear rotor will work with this setup, correct? What about the gearing? With smaller wheels I am guessing that will have to change. Also I don't want to swap chain. What gearing do you guys recommend?
Any gotchas I am missing in my quest for easy conversion from supermoto to dirt and back?
Thank You. | |
