Faulty ECU Empty
PostSubject: Faulty ECU   Faulty ECU EmptySat Oct 02, 2010 5:10 am

I have two WR250R's and I noticed on my 2010 model the engine fault light was staying on and occasionally the bike would not start (no electrical lights, nothing, dead) but would bump start and then be ok for a while but the fault light remained.

Now I thought it might be a faulty rectifier or a loose wire from where I had stripped the bike of all the AIS and EXUP crap. Having a second bike to swap stuff around on, the last thing I changed over was simply swapping out the ECU from each WRR. Bang, the fault light now shows up on the 2008 WR.

Lucky I have a good dealer, I phoned him, explained I had done his job for him and that I had a faulty ECU. He is ordering one in under warranty.

Something else, I asked him how much a new fuel pump might be (here in Australia) and it is well over $600.00. Did I read they are only $275.00 in the US??

Anyone else had a faulty ECU?

Cheers

Ecu failures are pretty uncommon
Have a look at the pins and see if one is broken off or bent over
Sometimes the pin breaks off and stay on the connector, then you break the pin off the new ecu when you push the connector on
