Ride the wounded WRR Empty
PostSubject: Ride the wounded WRR   Ride the wounded WRR EmptyMon Nov 08, 2010 11:30 am

I attended a certain rally this weekend with a certain bunch of guys from another web site. Out of respect to the WRR Forum, I will not mention the other website. I frequent both sites and love them equally. Because I was the only WRR pilot I figured that I would post my pics here for yall to see.
Those of you who read my previous posts know that I had experienced some issues with the fuel pump on my WRR, I did not have enough time to sort it out before going on this trip so I said "the Hell with it, I'm going riding!" I loaded up the WRR into my truck and headed north!

(Most of you will already have noticed "the website that I do not speak of")

3 hours later I arrived at TWO, for those of you who have never been it is a little slice of home away from home! MEME and GT are two of the main people that I know of who work there and they are top notch folks. Great Food, Great Conversation, and a Great Atmosphere!

I was the only person at TWO on Friday, so I decided to test the WRR. Even though I had a issue with it not wanting to start last week I figured that I would ride a bit and just not turn it off.
I headed for the Forrest Service Roads near TWO and immediately got rained on. The rain quickly turned into hail which then turned into SNOW!!

My visor was fogging up badly so I decided to head back. When I got back to TWO I met up with another rider, AJ. Me and AJ met last year in Suches. We chatted about current events in our lives and stood around waiting for the others to arrive. Soon after the other riders began to show up and we set up camp.

I am a Hammock Camper and will never go back to a tent after experiencing all the benifits of sleeping in a hammock. I own several hammocks but this trip I brought my Hennessey Explorer with Asym Fly. Due to the constant snow and sleet I also pitched by Walmart special blue tarp to help keep my other gear out of the elements.

After getting all settled in and putting up all the tents etc. we all gathered around the campfire to warm our bones and began to partake in several adult beverages to warm our bellies.

We threw some sausages on the grill and all stood around munching, drinking, and talking until it was time to go to sleep.

The next morning me and another rider, CL, were the first up and decided to take some photo's of the frozen landscape.

Once everyone was up and the Sun started to warm us up a little bit we all got geared up and took out for the trails. The WRR did not give me any issues in starting or running, I still was hesitant to turn it off so whenever we stopped for pictures I just kept her purring...It was also good for warming my frozen hands on my exhaust!

After running the dirt roads for a bit we all headed back to the paved roads and stopped for gas and snacks.

After a quick refuel and snack AJ and me headed towards Helen Georgia. There is a Grist Mill there that has some of the best cornbread and according to AJ the best oatmeal. I did not take any pics of Helen but did take a few on the way...

After returning from Helen we all gathered around the campfire for some awesome grilled duck, sausage dogs, grilled pork, mushrooms, and COLD BEER & Wiskey.

This weekend was perfect! A great get away with good folks, cool weather, and amazing sights. The best part was that my WRR never gave me a single issue! I'm sure that the fuel pump will act up again but I was spared this weekend from having to push, tow, or cuss at my baby. Suches is amazing and I highly suggest that if anyone is remotely close that they should stop by for a visit.

This concludes my first Adventure report. I hope that I was able to capture and relay the beauty of the mountains and the good times that were had by all!

Calico Jack.

I really expected the worse, but the WRR did a fine job! I'm still madly in love with it. Thanks

Looks like you guys had a great time. I was out riding and camping this weekend too. Fortunately we didn't get any rain or snow but it was Damn cold at night.

The sticker on your bike is a give away. Both sites are awesome! thumb

I've been up to Suches area 2X. What is your favorite trail/forest road? Did you do any of the OHV areas?

I stood in this same spot today on my WR250X. The weather has improved since you were there.

That was one of the best views that I think I have ever seen in Georgia.

Gatorfan- This was only my second trip up to Suches so I'm not really sure of all the road names. I just follow the more experienced guys around all day...On this particular trip I rode Cooper Gap Road, Flatlands, Wolf Pen Gap to Helen, and Helton Creek Road which had two cool water crossings.
