PostSubject: crack in frame   crack in frame EmptySat Dec 04, 2010 12:19 pm

I noticed a small crack in my frame yesterday while I was changing my oil. It's on the left side down near the footpeg,,it's where the frame piece that comes down to cradle the engine bolts to the main aluminum frame. the part of the frame that sticks out so the bolt can go thru has a small crack about 1 1/2 inches.. Has anyone else had similar problems with their frames? I haven't talked to the dealership yet but do you guys think it will be covered under warranty? do you think they will tell me that it's from abuse,,you can see the skid plate took some hard hits in that area...would it cost the dealership more money to replace the frame than the bike is worth? it's an 08 with 10,000 miles on it.......any input or comments are welcomed,,,I could just puke thinking about this..,,,Jason

Yeah lets see a picture.

I think it depends on the dealer.

Hello, I haven't posted anything on this forum since december,,I just got my new laptop today ,so I'm back....you guys were right, without pictures it is hard to answer my question,,,,,GOOD NEWS,,,my frame isn't cracked,,it was a crack in the paint, not the metal..I took it to the dealership back in March and the sevice manager suggested it was the paint that had craked,,the piece must have flexed when I hit a rock,I sanded the paint in the area and it was just the paint,,Boy did I feel stupid at the dealership for not thinking of that on my own...the service manager made it clear that if the frame was cracked than it was from abuse,,no suprise there,,,,,,
