Just saying hello after lurking the forums for a week

My bike gets delivered in a couple weeks and im already reading about mods. The dealer suggested to run it stock for 1000km before mods. Anyone ever hear that nonsense before?

Welcome!

While I hate it when people put precise limits on such things (ie. 1000km), it isn't a bad idea to get a feel for the bike that it IS before you start changing it.

Have fun!

Where in the Okanagan are you? I'm in the Kelowna/Vernon area. thumb Let's see...I had to lower mine in order to ride it like I wanted to. After the 1000 km change I started to mod it.

The bulk of the engine break-in seems to happen to them in the first 1000km. After that our WRXs just wanted to be ridden flogged. Very happy

While there may be some merit to holding off with the basic engine mods until the first oil change, I certainly wouldn't worry about holding off on sliders, etc. We had about $1500 worth of stuff on order before we even picked up my wife's WRX.

So, planning on taking that X into the dirt? They actually work quite well on the deactivated BCFS roads. Just watch out for the culvert ditches with the little front wheel.

Welcome aboard. thumb

Got the modding bug, installed a graves exhaust at 100km, then did a PC5 at 400km, what comes next?

If you haven't opened up the airbox that should help too. Some cut holes. Some glue the flapper up. Some remove the door. I chopped the plastic rivets and removed the top.

Then you must do the most important thing of all...
