| Meredith finds the throttle downright twitchy, way over sensative. For all the different stuff I ride I say it's about as overly sensative as a 13 y/o girl before her first boy girl dance. Is it just this one, or all of them? Is there a fix ? | |

| EFI is funny in that on decell the engine is not even running, the injector does not fire so when you open the throttle again the engine goes from not running to suddenly running making it quite abrupt I find that the bike has a lot of drive train lash as well making this worse Not much you can do about drive train lash but I know some one makes a kit to fire the injector on decell for bikes like the FZ1, does nothing good for fuel economy but could decrease the abruptness Like Greer says keep chain tension from being loose, should help too | |

| I have that complaint about my bike...though it bothers others more than I. I associated it, mostly, to a gearing choice...at first. But gearing aside, 52 or 42, the throttle has a harsh, intitial, response. For me, I kinda like it, but can get me in trouble at my skill level. For , someone not used to my bike...they usually comment. Someone ready, would love it. ...On the trails, that is. | |

| I was able to smooth it out a bit by adding G2 Throttle Tamer tube and cam. Also going to a 45 rear sproket helped, but nothing as smooth as my carb bikes. | |

| I love FI, & particularly on my little X: it makes the bike leap off the line at the traffic light Grand Prix! Smooth response/wafting ride are for Goldwings & the like, NOT a manic little 250..... | |

| My solution for dealing with it so far has been to coast with the clutch pulled a lot. Grab a little hit of acceleration without letting the clutch all the way out, and coast some more. Its a light enough bike im not too worried about falling so its ok. I dunno what I would do off-road though. Ride my KX500 instead probably lol. Its so buttery smooth all the way down to being stalled and it can go from being almost stalled to wild wheel spin with the flick of a wrist. | |

| Another good trick is to leave the throttle on a little and ride the rear brake, it really settles the chassis I do that a lot when down shifting, leave the throttle on slightly just to match the rpm and load and downshift is just a feather touch of the shifter Anyway, with slight throttle opening and brake the bike is easier to use, takes a bit of practice | |

| Compared to something like an F800GS, the throttle on this thing is as mellow as a pot-smoker on Saturday night .. | |

| I was surprised that my main distributor only carries G2's street products, sk i went straight to the source. Spoke with Sam at G2 and he said they sell a LOT of throttle tamers for this bike. On hearing it's a relatively novice rider, and she is on a WR250, he recomended a more radical cam than normal and sent it right out. Will report back when I install it this weekend. | |

| When I first got mine I didn't like the throttle snatch at all. 3 months of riding every day and I don't notice it at all now.
Ride more ;-) | |

| Re; G2 Throttle,
I asked the company about that, they responded immediately (cool), and here's what they steered me to:
G2 Throttle Tamer for Dirt Bikes
Make Yamaha Models YZF250-450 (1998 & newer)
40-4Y-HYK-YZF 1
I also had good luck with lower gearing, and between the mods and my body getting used to it, I don't notice it much anymore.

| I think the throttle is great on my bike. . . perhaps it's the lack of a cush drive on the rear end? Without a cush any change in engine RPM is amplified through the drivetrain. | |

| I got mine in 2 days, which is normal UPS Ground time from where they are. I also spoke with Sam for quite a while, and what folks should realize is G2 is not a big company with a huge staff. The owners both have "real jobs" (kinda like GPS) so I can understand why orders can take a bit of time if they are swamped with work, and work.
So I just had a few minutes to finish installing it on Mer's WR. Pretty simple, I did have to trim the tube with a saw to accommodate the Acerbis hand guards, much the same as when you have to trim the stock tube for guards. If you do this make sure to debur the cut so little burs don't cause the throttle to stick, I didn't do it good enough and had to disassemble and do it again.
Then it was out of the shop and ran around the industrial park we are in, lot's of low speed turns and tight alleys, this place looks like they planned the street and driveway layout by throwing a pile of spaghetti on a map. Perfect for testing this mod as it's all on and off the throttle in 1st and 2nd gear. HOLY CRAP WHAT A DIFFEENCE! One of my thoughts before was what a handful this touchy throttle would be on slow tight trail like single track, now it seems like it would be right at home. I can't believe what a difference it made!
