| Noticed my coolant level was close to the minimum mark, went to top it off and noticed the coolant is blue. Wtf? I've seen standard green, orange for gm vehicles, and even pink in some applications but never blue. It looks like windsheild washer fliud! Headed to the dealer tomorrow for a new rear tire and plan to ask them what's up but thought I'd ask here to as I've learned to not always trust the dealer. Maybe this is just a formulation I have not seen? Maybe for aluminum engines? Any info or thoughts appreciated. | |

| Didn't buy anything. The blue crap is what's in the bike right now. I was going to top it off with some of the good old standard green colored prestone I had laying around when I discovered the coolant in the bikes resorvoir looked like windex? I bought the bike brand new from my local dealer so plan to ask what they put in it when I go there in the morning. | |

| it's regular coolant except the dye added is blue instead of green... you can top it off with the regular green stuff... | |

That's weird, because both my WR-250R and WR-250X had the good ol'-fashioned green stuff in them (as all of my other Yamaha motorcycles I bought new).
Are we talking about the coolant that's actually in the radiator, or just what's in the plastic reservoir? Could be that somebody at the dealer added some blue stuff to the reservoir if the radiator still has green stuff in it. | |

| The Honda pre-mix I get for my van is blue. I think they use blue to denote pre-mix and green to denote non-diluted.
Could be the same kind of thing for Yamaha so whatever the dealer uses when they uncrate the bike is what you'll get.

| Spoke with the service manager at my dealership today while I was waiting for them to mount my tire and he confirmed blue and green are compatible. The blue stuff is just what they happen to have on hand. So no worries topping off with green. Thanks to all that responded. Tim | |

| Yea - you're good. Some dealers have blue antifreeze - they add the coolant to the bikes when they prep them - not the factory. We used to have red also but too many people thought it was gm type dexcool.
Side note - you should switch to engine ice if you want the bike to run cooler. We run it in our race bikes and have seen results of up to 7-8 degrees cooler at operating temps on the dyno...just sayin, it works :)

| BMW coolant is blue, I run it in all my vehicles because it's free (I wrench on the pieces of crap). Never had any issue with it and always run Water Wetter along with it. Erik | |
