Mitas M16 and M17

If you're more concerned about your off road performance than on road, the Mitas tires are hard to beat. These are pretty much as aggressive as any for dirt plus they only cost me $160 for both, taxes and eco fees in...and delivered. I've got about 3000km (2000mi) on them. The back is still OK but will be done by the time I put the bike to bed for the winter. The front will last me another season, easy. They're definitely noisier and less stable at top highway speeds but not unbearable. Tires are always a trade off. They're either only really good at one thing (dirt or road) or good at nothing (which is a good true dual sport tire). SheWolf has a good thread on them (Feb 2010) - Mitas / D606 shoot out. Cheers

I agree about the Mitas 16 & 17 Tires! I just put them on my WRR about a month ago and they're definately more aggressive off-road then what I had before. They were a little interesting finding a vendor that supplies them (both of my local dealers had never heard of them), but I found out that Mitas ships direct. Mitas-Tires.com

Haven't made it to the really nasty stuff yet to put 'em to the test, but they're holding up great on asphault seeing as though they're a mid-hard tire (aka, stone eaters). Anyways, they're priced right and I'm behind them.

I loved the Mitas; the only thing that was bad was the fact the front tire wore really odd. Every 2 sets of knobs wore right flat...apparently it's quite common for that tire.

UPDATE: finally found some true mud and sandy riding this last weekend. The C16 Rear hooked up real nice. Roosters all over! So I went back to Mitas' website and now I can't find them. The Mitas C16 & C17 tires are gone! Does anyone else have a source/connection for ordering them in the states?

That's ironic IAmABug. It's usually us Canucks (no relation to the recently embarassingly defeated hockey team) who have trouble getting stuff shipped up from the US. I got my tires from MX1 as well. They are in Richmond BC. Great service.

I agree, the mitas tires feel great. I treat my bike as full MX or EX depending on the ride so road use is only to get me to the trails without a trailer. Then again I popped my cherry with the Mitas tires so I have no clue how they hold up in comparaison. I'm looking to get a different set/combo to see the difference. Any comments on this? Someone who's ridden the Mitas setup and goone to an other after. I'm thinking scorprions all around or scorpion up front and kenda trackmaster in the back??

Thoughts? I don't want to be disapointed.

P.S. I also got my mitas tires from mx1canada. They have a US parter so call'em up or send them en email...something like mx1west
