The part number given is the correct one for the nut.
Myself, I always used a brand new nut for the very reason you are describing:
The locking feature is built in to the nut, and is meant to be used just once, or else you risk breaking the tab by trying to bend it one time too many.
The nut is a throw-away, in other words, and is supposed to be replaced once you unbend the locking tab and remove it.
Other bikes use a separate locking washer, but not this one.
