PostSubject: 13/45 ok with 112 link?   13/45 ok with 112 link? EmptyThu Feb 02, 2012 2:33 pm

I currently have 13/49 and a 112 link with my dirt wheels (great for trail riding and still does 60-65 comfortably, 75 top speed). I also have X wheels and would like to use the same chain but want a smaller rear sprocket. My calcs suggest either a 45 or a 46 tooth for my desired highway cruise speed, and there seem to be a lot more sprocket choices for 45T. I have a 44T but the the 112 is too long for that combo. Anyone run a 13/45/112 combo?

I have 13/48 and 112 links.

My guess is 112 will be too long for 13/45.

I can easily pull 75 mph with 13/48.

Top out at around 83-84 mph and I do have a speedo corrector.

How fast do you think you'll need to go?

Why not just switch sprocket from dirt to street and back when you're making the change?

13/49 on the X wheels, which have 120/60 and 150/60 on them right now, is a bit steep for road use, but is right where I want it on the R setup for offroad (gnarly, sandy, hilly, rocky enduro type stuff). With my X wheels I am eventually shooting to have them setup for gravel to highway riding, not stunt supermoto, or anything too aggressive, so I'd like to get a comfortable cruise in the 65+ range (GPS). With a little math that gets to 13/45 or 13/46 (eventually want to put slightly taller Distanzias on, so that will help too). I guess I 47T with taller tires might be right on the money and is good with a 112 link.

PostSubject: 112 links: is 13/46 OK? is 13/50 OK?   13/45 ok with 112 link? EmptySat Feb 18, 2012 11:44 am

I've read on the forum that the stock X is 13/42, so I'm guessing that is with 111 links?

I'll want to go 13/49 when I get a set of Wheeling R wheels this Spring.
Or maybe I should go 13/50?
Would that work with 112 links?

Has anyone checked that 13/46 works with 112 links? Probably use that for the X wheels which currently has a 150/70/17 rear tire.

I've bought the 12 O'clock speedo healer, but not installed it yet.
Wondering if it's worth changing settings every time I swap wheels...

If you have X and R wheels, I would be tempted to set the speedo healer to the X setup.  Reason being if you are riding the R setup (dirt) you don't have to worry about the police.  Where as with the X setup you are more likely to see more police on your travels. When I get my X rims, that is how I am going to do it.

I run 150/70 Distanzia with a 13x46, 110 link chain. The chain and gearing for me is perfect for high speed pavement and dirt, gravel roads. Befor this I ran 13x45 and I find the 46 is a big improvement. That one extra tooth works!
