Knocking of the motor Empty
PostSubject: Knocking of the motor   Knocking of the motor EmptyWed Apr 25, 2012 8:54 pm

I just recently purchased a brand new 2008 wr250r with 0 miles on it and when i was at the dealership they told me that the techs there heard a knock from the engine and tore the whole thing apart after 5 hours of waiting. The techs told me they couldnt find anything. So i took it home after a while of riding i notice that when the bike was in gear with the clutch pulled in i notice a knock everytime i would rev the engine from idle. Also i am noticeing alot of throttle lag. Is this normal with a brand new bike or should i get it checked under the manufactors defect warranty?

Once in gear it should scream rather smoothly.
If you cannot identify the sound...then you don't know the problem.
A good tech should identify the issue.
A skid plate made my bike sound terminal...but just made it a litttle noisier, engine wise...no issues.

Trouble is, the dealer supposedly already tore it apart before you took ownership if I read your post right.

Where do you live? Perhaps somebody here lives nearby and can have a listen while you listen to their bike?

If I had a warranty and suspected something was wrong, I'd get it checked out under the warranty. Is there another Yamaha dealer you can go to besides the one you bought it from?

I would not have accepted delivery of a new bike with a problem the dealer could not identify and readily fix. There is no need to be a prick (at first) but this is the dealers problem, not yours.
