A few of my recent tire experience's, and please understand I ride aggressively!

1. Dunlop 606's just plain hard! I'd use them for running Baja and only that, they look cool, last forever, front sucks worse than the rear.
2. Dunlop 908's maybe a Adventure tire, mostly for the street.
3. Michelin S12 nice tire, non-DOT
4. Dunlop 739 not as good as the S12, but good rubber
5. Pirelli Scropion Pro, the fricking best tire I've ever mounted to my dual-sport, from Death Valley to slippery rocks on the Sierra singletracks this tire works! I'm on my 2n wings d set!!

While I wouldn't call what I do agressive riding, I've had the Pro up front and the MT43 in the back for several sets. It has become the standard on my WR.

I've read people have been eperiencing head shake around 65/70 mph. What's been your experience?

No head shake problems. These bikes are never going to handle like a Goldwing at interstate speeds but my front end is pretty steady for such a lightweight bike. My tire setup does well on pavement as well as on the trails. The trials tire loses it when it comes to really soft mud but other than that I really like the combination.

They "might" get a light in the front-end over 65mph with Scropion-Pros, yet I run them low (12-14 front/13-15 rear) for pressures. Which is far lower than most of the previous tires and pressures before. Light steering would always steer well.

But anything over 60-65mph seems to wear "real" dirt tires faster than lower speeds.....

I first started using them on the RXV550 as they allowed that bike to actually steer instead of "pushing" in the front. Then I found that they would "hook-up" better in the rear on slippery stuff...... While not cheap, and do not last as long as 606's but life is too short to ride on "B" tires..... *smile* cheers

I just bought XCMHs. How does the Scorpion Pro differ? I assume it is NOT D.O.T.-rated.

They were on my buddies KTM530 I rode for a few on/off-road miles.....

They are excellent tires, they liked low pressures, a little softer rubber and casings, they will wear much quicker, most from the rear if I remember. I suggest keeping your top-speeds at or under 55mph for longivity.....

Pirelli has nailed it with designing fantastic off-road rubber, I got lots of half worn (other brands) tires to prove it.

When these wear out try some Pro's!

I really did like the Scorpion Pro that I had on the front end. It wore pretty long for as aggressive that it is. It did seem to wallow around on the street when new. I actually prefer the MT-16 front tire though. It handles almost as well off road, handles well when new, and might last a little longer than the scorpion pro.

Wrong assumption, they are DOT rated...

And while the WR-R is lower in HP, than I normally ride, I have NOT found a better 80/20 tire in the market. I have my own tire mounting machine/balancing machine and throw on lots of different tires...
