Valving/Spring Setup Question Empty
PostSubject: Valving/Spring Setup Question   Valving/Spring Setup Question EmptyMon Aug 27, 2012 6:50 pm

I'm looking to get the front and rear suspension components rebuilt and revalved fairly soon. I'm 135lbs without gear, roughly 150-155lbs with gear, and do about 95% of my riding on the street with the supermoto setup. I take the bike out to the desert on occasion and put on a SM Pro dirt wheel setup for this. I'd like the ability on occasion to take the bike on extended trips, carrying extra gas and gear, probably not to exceed 50lbs. My question is, in addition to revalving, should I get new fork and shock springs? It seems that the stock components should be fine for my weight and normal riding. I'm wondering if I need to go with a heavier spring when I do trips with the extra weight. Thanks in advance.

Your spring rates should be fine, even with the extra gear. The stock spring is progressive, so it makes the bike accomodating of heavier loads. At the same time, that is why it can be such a pogo stick. When i got mine revalved, the shop put a straight rate spring on, but the goal was for max offroad performance at a pretty consistent load.
