If the C was at the 10th digit, then no.
The 10th digit of the VIN is the one that tells what model year the motorcycle (or car, for that matter) is, and in this case, the letter C = 2012.
This is a USA Federal law that vehicles sold here have to comply with as far as I know.
If memory serves, it's the 4th through 8th digits in a Yamaha motorcycle VIN that will tell whether or not it's a California model, and you'll need some reference info to decode that.
It may even be in your Owner's Manual.
It's certainly floating around somewhere within the doors of your local Yamaha dealer - someone just needs to find it.
