So I have a dilemma? I have been thinking and wanting a dirt wheel set for my x from wheeling or warp 9. Warp 9 is about $300 cheaper than wheeling because it comes with sprocket and roters, but am I sacrificing quality? I don't really know the difference. Anyhow I figure it will cost me between $1100 to $1300 with everything which includes tires, tubes, and probably a new chain since thinking about getting a bigger sprocket for off road.

Well I can find pretty cheap dedicated dirt bikes for that price and I won't be afraid of dumping it sometimes. I can either get a mx bike (high maintenance) and do both trails and track or just get a trail bike like the kdx or the wrf.

Am I wasting my versatility of my wrx? should I just buy a dirt set up and just have one bike????? but from which one?

What are some of you doing and how is it working out for you?

I have a WRR and i STILL went out and got a dedicated dirt bike.
yz250...mx bike used for trials. Maintenance? What maintenance? Bring it home, hose it down, wipe down and oil chain, clean air filter once in awhile and you're done. ($800 for the bike $300 for parts and now i only pay for broken or consumables on it)

What a coincidence, I bought a 2000 yz250 today.
Got it for $950 but has leaky fork seals. Everything else seams good. I think I will try to fix it myself. Never done it but I can learn from youtube. Tried to use seal mate for an easy fix but I think all the oil drained.

Well this has a lot to do with the off road laws in your state. Some states have limited off road access. So a dual sport is best,my state is so-so for trails. I have about 12ish bikes, take what tool i need that day. I do have a spare set of wheels for my "x". Guess it could have more to do with how deep your pockets are or if you have the space to keep them.
My trail bike is a KDX200,going to get a KTM 150-200-300 xc/w next and keep the WR/X.
