| Yeah, i need help with this problem. Haha so i bought my bike with this huge horn on it and i don't appreciate my bike looking like it has a tuba attached to it. I went to remove it earlier today and i didn't realize the mess of wires and zip ties there are on the bike. Since i've never seen any other WR before, can anyone tell me which wires are for the bike and which wire is for the tuba? I can see a few wires coming from the horn, but then it is taped to another wire and another wire and from there it is just confusing (for me). Anyone that can help i appreciate it This thing looks ridiculous (I don't know why this pic is upside down, when i upload it to tiny pic it flips it) small wire is the horn, it is taped until it branches off heading toward the battery. This is hard to see, but the small wire coming from the horn shown in the last pic is at the bottom left, then it heads up to the battery... more wires. I am holding the small wire in this pic so you can see it is taped to... more wires. Thanks. | |

| If I recall correctly, the place where the original horn connects to it's power wires is actually on the horn, itself. In other words, the stock wiring runs out to the horn and plugs into two metal spade-looking contacts sticking up out of the horn, and unplugging the original horn from the original wiring will leave the wires hanging there where the horn once was.
You mean that whoever installed the horn did away with those original wires and ran new wires back toward the battery? Must be some kind of mega-horn with some relay for the increased electrical power it needs. Can't see why it would be like that, otherwise.
Hopefully, you can locate the original wires after you remove that stuff.

| Was the prior owner a ships captain who happened to have a spare ocean liner horn laying around ? Does it just bellow or play 'Dixie' or something? Did you get the stocker with the bike? If so you can figure out the wiring from the wiring diagram and the wire colors. PITA but doable. | |

| Got an update; i took out the battery and i found that the big chunk of wires was this: (What is it? looks like a way to charge a cell phone or something) Then we only have a few wires left. The black wire is the horn wire, it is taped to the two other brightly colored wires. As you can see the small wire is the one for the horn, taped to the tube, then the small wire runs into some red thing. I'm confused. (... again tinypic.com flips my pic) Anyone know about this? | |

| Photos are pretty poor and far away. But red thing sort of looks like a wire tap. One wire would terminate in there, and it would be surrounding another wire. It would be drawing power from that.
Top mess of wires could be GPS/phone charger, or heated gear plug. Not anything OEM.

| If it actually is a wire tap, then there should be a little clip on it and it will open up like a clam shell: You will need to tape over the original wire with electrical tape where it pierced the insulation. Some better photos would sure be helpful... | |

| I'm not quite sure what you are trying to do. If you want to replace the tuba with a different horn, just unplug the 2 wires on the tuba and plug them into the new horn. If you want to remove it all together, then trace the wires back as far as you can and cut. If you want to undo that wire tap, pop open the top like shown in my picture above. Use some needle nose pliers to pull up the little metal tab and pull the wire tap off. What is your ultimate goal? | |

| I'm assuming he wants to return it to stock condition.
I'd get the wiring diagram from the Service Manual.

| I think i'll be fine with taking the tuba off and having no horn, but where the wire is taped to the other bunch of wires near the battery I'm not sure how to take it out. Just cut it and leave it in there? | |

| So... I unclipped the red clamp. I have no idea what the wire was for, because the horn and everything else on the bike still works. Heres a pic: The other side of the wire goes into other wires and I'm not sure what they do. Should i just cut the wire that is connected to the red clamp? It is not connected to anything now. I am really not sure what this wire was for at all, so I'm a little afraid to cut it right now. | |
