Subject: Reprogram the Fuel Light for Larger Tank Sun Jul 28, 2013 6:02 pm
Hi all,
Is there a way to reprogram the fuel light to come on at a later mileage? Since switching to the IMS 4.7, my light has been coming on very early. Anyone else with this issue?
Thanks, Sean

The fuel light is initiated from a sensor in the tank.
I'm guessing you either move the sensor some how or live with it.

Unfortunately the fuel pump light does not work in a way that the remaining fuel amount can be adjusted by software.
The low fuel light is activated when the fuel level drops in the tank and a small sensor attached on the side of the fuel pump gets exposed to air. A temperature change is detected and the WRs software is programmed to simultaneously activate the low fuel warning lamp and change the display on the odometer to read out the distance traveled (F mode). The distance this sensor is located from the bottom of the stock fuel tank mounts it where the sensor will be exposed to air with one-half gallon remaining.
Since the entire event is activated by this sensor, the only way to alter when the low fuel warning comes on is to physically move the sensor to a different location in the fuel tank.
Hope this helps
