| YES, it is true ! I was just informed by IMS that it is going to produce an over size tank for the WR250 X/R with a summer 2010 release. We (Wheeling Cycle Supply) and DIrt Freak of Japan have been working with IMS to get this project going. No details on size, color,or pricing yet. I will keep you informed. Thanks, Forrest

| Right on Forrest! It'll give everyone an option now as to choosing a different tank. Guess we'll see if Clarke gets on the boat with it as well. _________________ A wolf's voice echoed down the mountain 'Share the bounty of the hunt with your brothers and sisters, and forever be strong and free.' | |

| size??? same pumping concept as safari: pump fuel from lower wings into a depression where the fuel pump lives? | |

| If it looks better than the Safari I'll consider it. That thing is just ugly. | |

| Hopefully they can get the price down a bit lower than the Safari. I haven't really needed more than the stock range for most of my day rides thus far, but I want to do some exploring this spring which will require a lot of throttle control, refilling at the last minute, probably carrying an MSR type bottle for reserve, and some wishful thinking to accomplish on the stock tank......but I'm way too much of a cheap bastid to buy the safati tank. | |

ims always comes in cheaper because it's produced in the us (shipping, exchange rate) they most always seems to get the shape correct but the size is always smaller the aqualine. this case maybe be different because because aqualine did not make a massicely huge tank. where ims comes behind aqualine is quality/consistentcy.

| thanks for the info, Forrest. I'll probably bite the bullet & get a bigger tank this summer, so i might wait until the ims comes out.. if it's not 'vaporware'.
choices & competition are always good!

| Here's the response from IMS as of today. I asked about completion date, capacity, extra pumps, vacuum operated, with or without shroud "wings". Looks like enough people complained that they really took the project to heart - IMS wrote:
- Hi Matt,
We are just finishing up what we hope will be a 3.0 gallon tank, but may be just under. We are looking at around another 5 weeks until this tank is completed and ready for sale. It will incorporate the stock shrouds and will retain a stock look.
Within the last couple days, a second WR250 tank has been green-lighted, where we will shoot for approximately 4.5 gallons. This will likely incorporate the shrouds as wings that hold fuel, but no details are available since no plans have been drawn yet. This tank will not be completed for at least a minimum of 3 months from now.
Thanks for your email!

Yes... As a matter of fact I do. Absent of a hood, I purposely extended the front fender on my bike (not the WR) for that very reason. ...but held off thinking that maybe the IMS one could potentially be BIGGER.
Bigger is better. Right ? However, given that this is the wife's bike, I better ask her. She has to ride it.

A 3-gallon tank doesn't interest me. for .9 gallon, I'd rather spend a lot less for a Rotopax or the like. Doubling the capacity of the bike's tank is a game changer that would interest me. I am spoiled by the stock 5.8 gallon, 250-mile range of my V-Strom.

| Hi All: I have been watching the IMS tank development for what seems like forever in the ADV thread. I sure would like to see a pic of this "next great thing". How IMS will pull a 3-gallon container out of an OEM 2-gallon volume while still making it look good will be a magical feat indeed. The Safari in blue sort of looks ok but boy those are some ungainly looking wings and the extra pump to pull from the bottom is still a "kludge". Wayne Gerdes - CleanMPG | |

| There's always action up here. Fire season is underway and yeah, I can't help but chuckle at how the Safari looks on any bike I've seen with one on it. I know it serves a purpose...it's just hideous looking. I can't describe any other way how that thing looks other than what I already did. _________________ A wolf's voice echoed down the mountain 'Share the bounty of the hunt with your brothers and sisters, and forever be strong and free.' | |

Agreed. Stock look is what I want, and 150 miles would be a good improvement.
