WR250X with 28,000 miles?

New to the site. I'm looking for a ride around town and such. Been off bikes for a little over three years. Been on SuperSports and Cruisers. I even had a DRZ for a short time. I've found a X with around 28,000 miles on it. They are asking $3000. Wondering what you all thought about this and whether its a good deal or not. Thanks.

Bad deal for the price, unless you can talk them down a lot. I bought a x for $3500 with 5,500 miles on it, middle of summer. I would think prices should be falling as we head towards winter.

I think the guy might even come down a bit if the bike is in really nice well cared for shape. If the bike is rode hard and put away wet he should come down a chunk. I could see close to 3K if the bike was really well cared for. In my area, they seem to have gone up a bit in value since availability is getting tougher.

What model year? What mods? What condition is bike in?

At 28k miles, it's due for a valve adjustment.

Mine has around 31k mi and still runs like a top. Depends entirely on maintenance and proper tuning for mods in my opinion. The valve adjustment procedure on this bike is simple, save for a lousy tensioner design. I'd definitely ride it, check for usual wear-and-tear (i.e. loose wheel/steering/swingarm bearings, chain, tires, oil level/color, etc.) and see about nitpicking the price down a bit for anything that needs doing. 28k mi is by no means a death knell for these bikes.

Mine has 15k.  Based on how mine runs with that mileage, I would not fear buying one with 28k.  I do, however, feel it is overpriced. $2,500 tops.

I got an 08 in the summer w/ 4k for $2700.00
