| D606's! Beats those things that the R2 comes stock with...oh man what a HUGE difference! The fact that I can ride in the rain and those knobbies still feel stable...moreso than my sportbike did on the Dunnies that were on it. _________________ A wolf's voice echoed down the mountain 'Share the bounty of the hunt with your brothers and sisters, and forever be strong and free.' | |

| The D606 tires have a taller profile than stock, correct? That helps make the decision to gear down easier, I guess. How about the other tires mentioned? Taller, shorter, or about the same as stock. Mainly interested in that info for the rear tire, of course, since it impacts overall gearing ratio. Not concern to me, but others might care since it may also slightly impact seat height. | |

| The D606's are marginally taller than the stock Bridgies. Mounting them...well, the front was a hellevua lot easier than the rear. If anyone does decide to swap out those stockers, it's a good idea to also swap out the stock tubes and put in heavy duty ones. _________________ A wolf's voice echoed down the mountain 'Share the bounty of the hunt with your brothers and sisters, and forever be strong and free.' | |

| Another thought I haven't seen here or on ADV yet, when I used to race bicycles I used a Kevlar tube liner- it was most of the width of the tire, and nearly impenetrable by anything you'd run over on a bike- glass, thorns stood no chance. Fairly minimal weight penalty for the bombproof reliability. Has anyone seen anything similar for moto applications? (I used extra thick thorn-resistant tubes along with, better the weight than the flat!) I don't think the bicycle ones came wide enough for moto, but I may be wrong.

| My stock tires are full of studs and will be left that way. So I will be looking, I will be mostly off road so am thinking Dunlop 606's but am open for suggestions | |

| The 606's are popular given the fact they have a D O T approved rating. If that is not important to you, then select a tire suitable for your terrain and run that. ( a DOT tire will be a harder compound ) | |

| i am on my second set of 606's, strong tire. got about 1800 on them and swapped out. the bike feels stable on the hwy, to hard pack, to loose rock. you can play with the pressure on those tires to customize. | |

| I know this has been discussed on other forums before, but I'll ask anyway. Can anyone recommend a good DOT tire for sand, deep sand and more sand? I will be doing 80% off road, and realistically only about 20% on road. |

| Well...I rode a really deep sandy beach with the 606's and they roosted pretty darned good. Didn't get stuck either and the front steered through it without a hiccup. _________________ A wolf's voice echoed down the mountain 'Share the bounty of the hunt with your brothers and sisters, and forever be strong and free.' | |

| I ran the Trackmaster rear on my DR650 for a while and it was a good tire, but the 777f shows to be a hard pack tire. Quote: "Unique directional tread pattern designed to meet the needs of dry, rocky, hard-packed terrain" Have you run this front tire in deep sand? |

| Whatever tire you select - if you're going to be doing lot's of time offroad and running low PSI...
Tip #1: Get a set of front and rear rimlocks and put them on when you mount your new tread. The stock R² rims are already pre-drilled and you can find a good set of locks online or your Yami dealer should have them.
Tip #2 : After you get your newys installed (with the rimlocks) have them balanced. If you're going to be riding on the street regularly the cost to have it done right is worth every penny. You'll know what I mean if you're doing 65-70 with unbalanced tires on the slab. | |

| Can't say I've ever had problems spinning a tire on the rim at low PSI...it is a nice idea. The only reason I haven't bothered is that those things are fairly heavy. _________________ A wolf's voice echoed down the mountain 'Share the bounty of the hunt with your brothers and sisters, and forever be strong and free.' | |

| Wolf-Woman: What pressures are your running for true dual-sport use in your D606s?
Drater: How did they look after 1800 miles? Were they shot or did you just opt for a new pair?

| 22psi in the rear, 18psi in the front. Seems to work well both on and off road for me. _________________ A wolf's voice echoed down the mountain 'Share the bounty of the hunt with your brothers and sisters, and forever be strong and free.' | |

| the front tire wore like scallops to a point it was affecting the response and back wasn't all the way down, i could of got a little more out of it, but it would be milking it. my front air is like 18 and the back is 14 or 15. | |
