Fair price for x rims, tires and sprocket? Empty
PostSubject: Fair price for x rims, tires and sprocket?   Fair price for x rims, tires and sprocket? EmptyFri Jan 15, 2016 11:19 am

Hello all:

I am new to the forum and last week bought an 09 x model.  I am considering setting up more off road oriented rims/tires.( and keeping the original set ready for road only ) I see an ad on Craigslist where the seller has knobbies on the 08 wr that he is selling, and it comes also with an extra set of x rims/tires.

While I thought it was a shot in the dark, I asked if he would be interested in selling the x rims combo separately.   He responded that someone was coming to look at the bike this week, and he didn't think the guy wanted the x rims. He said if that turns out to be the case, he would take $500 for the set. Does this seem like a fair deal? Presumably, the tires are stock, and may have decent life left on the treads because the bike has only 3400 miles on it. ??

I am a bit undecided on whether to fit the bike with r rims,  or pick these up and put some dot rated knobby tires on it. I do kind of like the fat tire look that reminds me of my tw 200 on steroids. :-) Alternately, my friend has a plated wr 250 f that he is considering putting sumo rims on so he may want them if I don't. ( if fitment is not a concern ) I suppose there are benefits/drawbacks to each.

Thank you for your thoughts and opinions.    scratch    Rubber side down, Dave

Probably a late reply... but here is a reply. lol

500 bucks is a good deal. If it comes with tires, rims, with brake disks and sprocket.

Side note, The wr250R wheels front disk brake is a different size. You will need an R caliper to use those rotors.

I have both wr250 X and R wheels. When I swap them out, I swap out the whole front brake assembly (brake level, hose, caliper).

Thanks for the reply. Since I own an x model, and these are x rims, the brakes are the same. Have not heard from the seller yet. Rubber side down, Dave

Hey guys, I'm brand new here but I've been lurking for a month or so. I think I bought the bike you're talking about wink Was it in the Albany, NY area?

I haven't had it out yet; I just got my permit yesterday and I need to do a little work on the bike to get it legal before I register it. I'm REALLY looking forward to riding.

P.S. Nope, I don't wanna sell them.

I don't know if you're looking to trade but someone on ADVRider is looking to trade his X wheels for R wheels. Shipping might be prohibitive to/from Oregon, but I thought I'd share.

Okay, well I'm not allowed to post links here so if you're interested head over to ADVrider dot com.
