Zeta sprocket guard question

OK, so I ordered one. Was wondering if anyone is using one and what they did for case saver. I'm assuming the guard mounts on top of the OEM case saver. Still waiting for it to get here.

Most of us use the Sandman case saver and guard, but you can just order the case saver and use it with the Zeta.

+1 for the Sandman case saver and sprocket cover.

There is no OEM case saver. Just a plastic sprocket cover that collects debris and prevents inspection and cleaning without removing it.

OK thanks I will have to use the OEM case saver half of the sprocket guard till I get a sandman. Like the looks of the Zeta plus already have a majority of there parts.

The Zeta does look good, but the Sandman is a better product since it holds on at 3 points.

Sandman looks good to me, might have to spend MORE money now

I'm not trying to "sell the product" as I don't have any affiliation with Sandman other than having purchased it myself. I'm just trying to help a fellow rider choose a solid product.

My bike only has 604 miles on it, so it still looks clean.

The Zeta just rocks

The Zeta sprocket covers are certainly sexy, but they don't appear to have a case saver behind them.  IMHO the case saver is the most important part because it protects the case in event of chain failure.  A sprocket guard/cover alone, like the Zeta, doesn't do that.

Here's the Sandman case saver only (without the sprocket cover.)  Not sure if this will fit behind a Zeta sprocket cover.

fully agreed, at least in theory.

*I* just never had such a chain failure in hmm.......35y of riding motorbikes? Don't know what the statistics say on that subject, but I assume getting hit by a low flying eagle is in a similar price class

Good for you. Not everyone is so lucky. I've never heard of anyone getting hit by an eagle while riding, but I've heard of plenty of chain failures and have seen a few firsthand. Here are some reports I've read specific to our bikes:

I don't really care if you have one or not. I do disagree with your opinion that it isn't needed because it hasn't happened to you yet.

Given the number of WRRs out there, the bike certainly isn't known for suffering from chain failures.

Sandman casesaver saved my bike aswell.

I tend to try and fit some sort of casesaver on all my bikes, all it takes is a rock in a wrong place..

I get what you're trying to say but the OEM plastic/rubber cover isn't much of a "case saver".  Yamaha calls the plastic part a "chain case cover" and the rubber part a "guide".

It looked to me like you were defending the Zeta guard's lack of case saver by saying one isn't needed.  It still looks that way to me.

well, maybe you're getting hit by eagles quite frequently in your part of the world. No idea.

No, I actually agreed to what you wrote and added that *I* happily take the risk bcs. I never had that problem, don't expect it to happen anytime soon and even if so - bad luck, repair.
If I would be that chicken-hearted, I wouldn't t ride any motorbike at all. So many bad things can happen, including severe wounds from getting hit by an eagle in Idaho...

Thanks for keeping the conversation light and funny. Sorry if I came across with an attitude. I think I need to get out and ride more and post on internet forums less. I can't wait for the snow to melt from the high country.

No worries pal, we're all waiting for that f-word Winter to finally retreat.

Last Monday I took my bike for a short ride. It was way too cold for that, though.
My WRR snickered all the time and said "soo, is my rider eventually getting old....I am no wheelchair" and stuff like that.

Yes I know, this is just a temporary measure till I get a sandman.
