Engine and Frame Numbers

Hello all, this is my first new bike, wr250r. On all the old bikes I've owned, the frame and engine numbers matched. I've noticed on my WR the frame number does not in any way match the number stamped on the engine. Is this normal? Thanks

Normal.

Back in the day they matched, but not for the past 20 years with many Yamaha models.
