08 or 09 -which model to buy??

So I'm about to join the WRR family and the dealer has both the 08 and 09 models on the floor. Both brand new, just $300 difference between them. Is the 09 model worth the extra $300? Thanks!

Only as a resale value. It's hard to know by how much since there are not a lot used on the market yet.

The graphics.

And that retarded rear sprocket. The 09 has a normal sprocket that won't give you the headache chain skip that the 08 sprocket is notorious for. You could buy the 08 and then just get a different rear sprocket for it. Save you a few bucks. Just for comparison, the 09 was $7700 here, the shop got a used 09 in, and sold it the next day for just over $6000. I think it had only 750 miles on it.

Is there an insurance cost you might consider as part of the decision ?

Resale value may be mox nix by comparison.

Thanks for the info. I was actually dealing with a dealer in another state. Long story but dealership owner is a friend of a friend and he hooked me up with the sales manager. After several phone conversations the sale manager finally realizes that I want an R not an F. The 2 on the floor are F models. Arghh!!

Anyway, the search continues. I can't get any of my local dealers to deal - they all want full retail for a 2010. I'm still on the hunt for a new 09 or 10.

My dealer isn't interested in 2010 WR's yet. He still has a 2009 for sale. $5999.99

Yeah, the local guys all wanted full retail to go and track one down for me. I called around to just about every dealer within 300 miles and finally happened upon one that actually gave a shit about selling me a bike. Motions in Marretta, GA (under new ownership as of 10 days ago) was very accommodating.

From the minute I called them, they absolutely treated me like I was their most important customer. They located me a 09 model and had it delivered to the dealership. I picked it up yesterday, $5643 out the door, which I think is a very good deal. I just had to drive 350 miles round-trip to go pick it up.

I think that is a pretty good price,,have fun
