I am looking to buy a wr250r and wanted to know what the differences are between the 08, 09 and 10. Is the 2008 a great model year? I found a new 08 but need some real advice from you all here.

Thanks for helping a newbie.

Hi,

I just bought an '09 myself not too long ago. I was told at the time that there was next to no difference between the '09 and the '10. Seemed like there were tiny differences, but hardly worth missing the deal I was going to get on the '09. I think the same goes for the '08.

I'm not totally sure on all this, so hopefully somebody more knowledgable will respond too.

08's have a rubber ring on the rear sprocket, the 09 & 10 do not. Graphics are also different on all years. 10's have gold forks. The 10's also have a bearing change in the crank from what I was told. That's about all I can think of. Newbie question. Whats the difference 08, 09, 10 29721

Thank you for the info. Is the rubber ring on the 08's a bad thing?

A lot of riders were complaining that the chain wasn't sitting right on the sprocket and encountered skipping on the sprocket. When comparing the two side by side, the chain doesn't sit as far down in the teeth of the sprocket on the 08 with the rubber ring, whereas the 09's fit right down into them. It's an easy fix, just change the rear sprocket. Newbie question. Whats the difference 08, 09, 10 61865
