Three things locked me into the WR ... Fuel injection = seamless power, no fiddling with the carb. I live on the coast (at sea level) but Mountains (3000 to 4000+ feet) are within a hours ride where there are plenty of fire roads and back country to explore. The six speed tranny is capable of highway speeds when necessary (notice the "when necessary", just because it will do it does not mean I'd want to for any length of time)(I'm not that crazy). The bike is also equipped with an alternator instead of a finicky stator. Likely the stator is one of the most problematic electrical components my buddies have had to deal with.
I want to get on and ride ... no fuss no muss ... When I moved to New Hampshire something i noticed is, I swear there aren't any straight roads here. They are far between and few if there are.
I don't want to make minor adjustments while out on the ride. Nor do I want to tear down the engine as a winter project either. I will do the regular mods, AI, air box, exhaust, and drive sprocket as time permits. Ya gotta make things right, don'tcha?
Something I do want to do is take it on a long distance trip. If they can do a trans America trip on a 50cc Honda Ruckus I have no doubts anyone can do it on a 250cc WR. Its called proper planning and knowing your own limitations as well as your equipments. I have done Iron Butt rides, granted years ago.
