Shinko 244 Tires on a WR250X

Leaning towards giving the Shinko 244s a try on my 17s. Sounds like the 4.60 was a hair too wide, so I was thinking of going with the 3.00-17. Thoughts?

I don't have any problems with the 4.60 for clearance on my X. I think the 3.00 would be too narrow for the 17" X rim.  I did buy a 21" wheel. I like it because it's lighter and it works better at higher speeds when trying to keep up with MX trail riders. I like the 17" for the street and I've been thinking of re-installing it.

I am getting a little scraping of the protectors when aired down to around 15 psi, but otherwise it's fine.

I love these tires!  Great in dirt and capable in mud; pretty stable on asphalt.  I can asphalt take turns low and quick but I have felt the back slip out once in a while.

I did run into an issue pictured below in which mud would cake really badly and because there is not a lot of clearance between the forks, it scraped off and collected.  That, combined with the wider front tire, made plowing through mud pretty tough.  To be fair, the mud pictured is REALLY sticky - very clay-like, even.  I had to scrape it off my skid plate with a putty knife.

Also, they look beastly

So has anyone tried the 3.00-17 yet? I was curious about this too.

So has anyone tried the 3.00-17 yet? I was curious about this too.

The rim may be too wide for a 300.

I have a 3.00 on the front. A little stretched but it fits fine, SO much better in the dirt. I think I'll try the continental tkc 120-70-17 next though.
