Tire width Empty
PostSubject: Tire width   Tire width EmptyFri Jun 19, 2015 8:27 pm

So I have read at least 2 pages, maybe 4, the question is whats the max width we can put on the back of the WRR, I have been looking at the Pireli 43, I know it is a bigger diameter, so our stock tire is 120/80/18 so can you go 140/80/18, 140/90/18, 150/80/18, I know the first # is width, second percentage of width bla bla you know what I mean, whats the widest tire someone has used. and how much bigger in diameter is it over stock, cheer`s, thanks for any input.

Unless your hill climbing or drag racing in sand on a high horse power bike the skinny tires work better off road.

You can fit a really big tire on the wrr but its the last bike you want a really big rear tire on, it doesnt have the tq to spin the fat tires to corner well so it plows straight ahead in corners plus it still hooks up good with tiny crapy rear tires and then theres the part about the bike being too high in the rear so why jack it up even more with a big tire, bigger is not better on this bike!

Also some of the 140/80 rear tires like the fim scorpion pro and michelin s12 are measured different than other tires and are equal to a 120/100.

So a 130 dunlop 606 or a 140 or 150 terra flex will fit fine with the wheel pulled back a bit via adding a link to the chain but I wouldnt run em for other reasons.

They gave the wrr/x alot of tire clearance for running 140 or 150 super moto tires, it has more room around the tire than any dirt bike I've owned.

Thanks for the reply, I wouldnt mind going one size wider, we have such a mixed terrain way up north here, the more tire on the grass, shale, rocks, mud, sand , you name it I thought the better.

Thats what I ride on most of the time.

I like the 110/90 motoz tractionator it, 110 pirelli mt16, 110 keda trackmaster, 110 irc m5b.

The stock tire is a 100 100 if you measure it the same way they measure dirt tires so a 110 is one size bigger and plenty big for a wrr.

The 110 mt16, mt43 or the 120 dunlop 606 (I put one of those on my neighbors wrr for him last weekend, its about the same size as the 110 mt16) is the biggest I would go on the wrr, those are all big tires and you will notice a small lose of power with them.

I race some of the local harescrambles and most all of the fast guys run 110 rear tires on 250-300 two strokes and 450 four strokes as they corner better than 120s and hook up about the same in a straight line, we do some pretty extreme hills in those races too.

I was always told dont put a big tire on a slow bike it will be even slower and found it was true after trying larger tires. thumb
