Hey Kali, tell us again how that "green power" thing is working out?
Oh, the Green revolution in Kalifornia... it gets better. Remember when Obama was promising to bankrupt coal fired electrical plants, double the price of energy, etc?
When his porkulous package was going to buy new green energy jobs and create this amazing new global economic sector?
When he went to Solyndra Corp for a photo op and to hand over taxpayer porkulous money? Solyndra was going to take the world by storm making solar energy products.
He gave a speech at the plant in front of press and state officials which outlined his vision for a alternative energy sector in the U.S. balanced by federal funding. He said (no idea if he had his teleprompter in sixth gear or not):
“The promise of clean energy isn’t just an article of faith, it’s not just some abstract possibility for science fiction movies or a distant future or 10 years down the road or 20 years, it’s happening right now. The future is right here.”Then he gave them $550,000,000 in taxpayer dollars before racing off to the golf course.
Well, Obama for once made good on one of his promises. They were the future of the green economy: Solyndra filed for bankrupcy a few days ago. They're the third U.S. solar company to seek bankruptcy protection in the last month alone. The solar giant Evergreen Solar Inc. filed bankruptcy three weeks ago, followed several days later by SpectraWatt Inc, a private company which was backed by Intel Corp.
The future of green energy is bankrupcy... but it's okay... in this case, it was only half a billion taxpayer dollars, which as we all know is not real money.
Is there a funny part to this story? Yes. Want to know Solyndra's explanation as to why they went bankrupt?
They said they couldn't compete with the Chinese because the Chinese receive subsidies from the government. I'm not kidding, they really did say that. Nobody asked them about their half billion, unfortunately...
A criminal investigation was opened a few days ago.
This is why government makes such a crappy business partner. Government is very good at producing a military that can deliver the goods on demand. They should stay out of business (particularly when government is heavily populated with socialists) which they know nothing about, and stick to what they are skilled at: producing excellent soldiers and defending the nation.
