This riding documents his ride attempts across the TAT, finally ending with the WR250R and the 80L Reckless bags. I have their 30L and 40L duffle bags. Solid gear and well thought out. I have a Coyote, but I'm still on the fence about getting an 80L Reckless.

I would probably lean toward the 80L, mostly because the side bags can be compressed to hold less. If you need to store more stuff, or stash away layers, you have room for them. Now, if you're an ultralight fanatic and all your gear is ultralight, the 40 may be the way to go.

My thought would be that the 40 would still require that I use a tail bag for tools, tubes, etc. The 80 would allow me to store it all in one bag, but still be segmented, due to the design. Just my thoughts, good luck with your decision!

Used Wolfman Expeditions for several years. They are roughly 13" square which in my case meant fewer places to store the tent with its 18" poles.
Bought a set of Touratech Moto Speed bags which are really great bags, with uncommon horizontal length, yet streamlined duffle like profile, but they are polyurethane and not easily mended.

Finally found/settled on the SW Motech Dakars which are available without their bike specific racks, and have strap mounting points ideally suited our WR racks. Then upgraded to the Tusk pannier racks which are more robust than any other I have seen, with EIGHT mounting points (including crossbar) vs 4 point mounting on many if not most WR racks, and less prone to cracking from road vibrations than the Wolfman (discontinued) racks I had. The Tusk also ships complete with quick release inner brackets that can be adapted for quick release type luggage... all for a great price.

The SW Dakars checked a lot of boxes for me;
