Those were all the rage back around 1983-1985.

I've dumped two bikes upside down that have gone skidding on their lids. One was at high speed and ended up in the dirt. The other was at about 30km/hr, but it went skidding upside down on the pavement. There are wear marks on the reservoirs, but no damage of consequence. I think I'll pass on this bit of protection.

Smithsonian! lol! thumb Yep, those were "old school". Had one on my old Honda ATC250R back in the day. Problem was getting to the fluid without having to disassemble and if the guard got bent at all it was a pain to try and get it back on. Sometimes you needed a longer brake lever pivot bolt too... I have seen em actually break the pivot point as well...
