This is true but not nearly to the degree that people think it is. KTM lists weights "dry' , while Japanese bikes are listed "wet". When you account for this the difference is not that great - couple/few pounds depending on model. It's amazing how many guys in the orange mafia run around claiming their bikes weigh 20 lbs less than your Red/Green/Blue bike.

OP, The WRF is nothing like the WRR. Not even close. Even if you could get a tag for the F, you are left with a lousy street bike stock. You would have to change sprockets at bare minimum and don't even think about taking those stock tires on pavement (I hit the deck hard with them once).
Consider this: The first valve inspection on the R2 is due at 24K miles. It's 600 miles on the F. It's a different beast. They have the same color plastics, that's it.
