250x with 21" front

I posted this under tires but It is probably better being here.

Anyway, I had a BMW 650 Dakar with 21" front and 17" rear wheel (handled just fine)
Sooo...could I put a 21" on the front of my X for dirt riding while still using the 17" rear?

Anyone tried this?...and lived?

I have all combinations of wheels. for the front I have an 18, 19,(BMW),17 and 21. Never use the 21inch anymore as it uses a (r) caliper and all the rest use an (X) caliper. On the back I have both the 18 and the 17(X) rear wheel. Have dirt tires on the 17's for off hiway use. Any combination well work just fine. My .02 cents. Berwyn

The DR650 also uses this combo and is surely a competent dual sport so I can't imagine it wouldn't work on on the WR. It would change the steering geometry (from that of the wrr) a bit so you might consider raising the fork tubes a bit. It also limits your tire choices somewhat but there are decent options available in a 17.

I was wondering wether I should raise the fork tubes slightly.
Not sure how to measure to what extent.
