If it broke at the typical spot (where the steel cable wire meets the barrel-shaped end at the clutch lever), lube the cable once in a while and put a dab of grease on the cable end before you reattach it to the clutch lever.
That barrel end needs to be able to rotate within the clutch lever when you pull the lever.

Clutch cables will last forever if you clean and lube em on a regular bases.

I do this a few times a year, it only takes a few minutes.
I have a cable luber and use cable lube that the dealer sells with them, I also lube it where the cable goes into the lever, doing this keeps the clutch pull nice and light. thumb

Just make sure you use the right lube like Biglake does.

First time I lubed I used a chain lube product for garage doors. That stuff left a sticky residue and it seemed like it pulled dirt up into the housing and the lever effort became very high in a few months. I ended up lubing it over and over with WD40 to flush out the old stuff and now life is good again.
