Clutch Cable Empty
PostSubject: Clutch Cable   Clutch Cable EmptyMon Mar 11, 2013 10:37 am

Went to lube my clutch cable and noticed 3 pieces of the braided metal were broken near the end where it connects to the lever. Where do clutch cables usually break? I've got over 8k on it, stock cable, daily commuter with a lot of stop and go shifting...
When did your cable break and where?

They almost always break where yours is about to:
At the joint where the barrel end meets the cable wire.

The wire fatigues if the barrel end can't rotate as you pull the clutch lever.

My cable broke last night. Same deal....I took the lever off to lube the cable and noticed 2 or 3 wires were broken. I put it back together and pulled the clutch lever in once - *SNAP*

beavis beavis beavis lol! lol! lol! Peace YAM BOOM :TTSB:

Woops. There goes my weekend. I ordered two new cables yamaha part number 3D7-26335-00-00

I'll route them both under the tank together so if I break another one while I'm trail riding or on a road trip it will be an easy swap.
