Just a quick question for those more experienced with the WR than I. I went for a fun ride at our local ORV park today and dumped it on some snotty mud. The engine died, which wasn't surprising, but it wouldn't start right away until I turned off the ignition and back on again. My Suzuki Vstrom required that when the same thing happened in Death Valley last year, so I was wondering if this is a normal thing when the bike dies while horizontal. I wonder if it just needs the fuel injection to reset or something similar. It's not like it's a big deal, but I'm just a little curious about it.

It has a tip over switch that shuts off the fuel pump after being on its side for a few seconds, you have to turn the key off to reset it after it happens, it has that so the pump wont burn up from trying to pump gas while the bikes on its side and the pumps sucking air.
The bike also shuts off if you let it idle for 20ish minutes without moving, it must be for the guys who forget to shut off their bikes.

This and other related topics about bike operation (or lack thereof) are covered in the Owner's Manual. It's free to download from Yamaha.

Really, it dies after 20 minutes of idling? I didn't know that! Cool!

The only problem is that the headlight stays on. Hmmmm. Wish that would turn off after 20 minutes as well.

If the head light burns out will it keep the bike from starting? My boss had a TTR 230 or something like that and his headlight burned out and it wouldn't start.
