I'm looking at moving to a proper footpeg this season and likely it will be the ProMoto Billet company that gets my money. The question i have is: do the longer adv pegs have any negative (aside from price) for overall riding? I do every kind of riding on the WR and i like the idea of a full underfoot platform, ideally it'd be a 4.25" long peg but i can't actually find any that are the real width of my boots for some reason. Have heard the ADV pegs are problematic for foot dabs in emergency situations, and that the aluminum is more prone to damage than SS pegs are.
but i'd appreciate anyones input, or a equally good but cheaper peg option...
thanks, Don

I'm riding on the Pro Moto Billet Evolution Air pegs and love them. The platform is quite a bit wider front-to-back vs. stock pegs, which make trail riding while standing a lot more comfortable.
Like some of the other aftermarket pegs I've seen, the PMB pegs don't fold up quite as far as the stock pegs. The tops corner of the PMB peg makes contact with the upper torx bolts that mount the pegs to the frame. You can see in the photos below where I achieved a little extra folding radius by shaving a bit of aluminum off the peg corners with a dremel. You just have to be careful not to shave too much off of the right side, else the peg will hit the brake pedal when folded. (The brake pedal ding in the photo below is from the stock pegs.)
Another think I like about PMB pegs is the option to mount them in the "lowboy" position, as shown below. I'm a tall guy and it gives me a few extra precious mm of legroom when standing, as well as a few mm of front-to-back room for my big motocross boots.
Here's a shot of the left peg that shows where I ground it down to let it fold up a bit higher:
I ride mostly off-road and wouldn't want my pegs to stick out any farther than they already do, so the PMB Adventure pegs wouldn't be an option for me. My reason for upgrading to PMB was because I had previously bent my stock pegs a couple of times riding between rocks or through hardpack ruts.
Take a look at the short video below from a ride last weekend. At about 50 seconds into it I ride between two rocks. The rock on the right catches my right peg hard enough to stop the bike dead and stall it. I think that rock probably would have mangled the softer stock pegs, but my PMB pegs barely got a scratch in the anodized finish.
Here's the peg after I hit it on the rock (and a few other rocks too.)
Hope this is helpful!

Thanks wwguy, its sort of helpful yes. i would like to hear from anyone running the adv pegs but i'm tending to agree w you that wider may be 'too wide' in the technical. So thanks for that. Also i'm rethinking getting the blue anodized. thinking they will eventually get more silver than blue w scraping and wipeouts etc....so may as well just go for the silver :-)
I've ridden an 800gs w pivot pegs...personally not for me, but i only spent a short period on them. the teeter-totter effect was too disconnected for me personally. my friend loves his though.

Thanks for your opinion. Think I would really like my feet planted firmly on the pegs and the rotation may give a feel of disconnected. Hope someone else will give couple more opinions.

I'm rolling with ProMoto Fastway Evo 3 stainless pegs ($136). They are very wide, but I personally LOVE them. They are very adjustable from the position, to the camber, to the length and shape of the traction inserts. Wide, stable platform to stand on with user defined grip and positioning. I haven't experienced any issues with them smacking rocks yet. I'll be back to moan about it if I do...
