| Hi, great forum. with a many great posts. I have a running problem I could do with advice please. I bought a a 2008 WRR.with 500 miles . With many changes and extras on it . A few of the mods on it are : FMF Muffler, Head and Power Programmer , Graves Smog Block off Kit , Graves EXUP Servo Eliminator . Bike was sitting all winter in a heated shop. Only got a trickle charger a month ago , bit late , and as i tried to start it was week. she turn over but would not run . Then as it really ran down , I bumped started and it ran but only with the reves kept up . Thought it may need a new battery , bought one , replacing the Magna Power ( was in the bike when i bought ) with a new one . Still hard to start . can hear the maybe a pump turning over . The hit the start button and it turned over , would not start, tried many times , holding open the throttle and it kicked she started but would only stay running with the reves really held high. One other thing before i put the bike away for the winter it would cut out regularly in first gear . one had to keep the reve up a little I thought this must be the Power Programer .but did not get around to resetting or testing . I imagine i need a new plug NGK CR 9 EK But reading here I see the 2008 has fuel pump problems . How do I test this ? Any feed back really appreciated . | |

| I'd do the basic must-be things first:
Service the air filter. Siphon out all of the old gasoline and pour new gasoline into the fuel tank. Change the spark plug. Test the battery on a bona-fide motorcycle battery tester.

| +1 on the spark plug.
That solved a no-idle problem for me. No fun to ride when you have to fight to keep the nike running at every stop.
Mine was also a new-to-me 2008 with very low miles.

| Have you checked if you have any faultcodes store in the "computer"? I've had a warning regarding the coil. Cleaning the connectors helped that one out.
Heres a how-to:

| Like someone else said, it sounds like bad gas might be the culprit. That's your easiest fix, anyway. | |

| Thank you . So should remove the gas tank . empty . put in a little new gas shake it around empty and top up . Is it easy enough to remove the tank do you know ? I look about for instruction but did not come across any yet . I did not manage to get a bike manual with the bike, one on order though . | |

| I'd syphon it out. You can either use the "stick a tube in the tank and suck on it until you get gas in your mouth" technique or get something like this: http://www.harborfreight.com/fluid-siphon-pump-93290.html. I've never had to do this myself but it should work.
I'm also a fan of Sea Foam. After seeing what it did for my daily driver I use it in everything. If you have a fuel problem I'd add some to the new gas, probably twice what the normal treatment is (so 4 oz in the 2 gallon tank vs 2 oz).

| Mine was acting like bad gas may be the problem, and an old bike with low miles made that likely, but it was the spark plug that was causing the issues...
The bike hasn't died at idle once since putting in a new one.
