2 IMS tanks leaking?!

Just wanted to report my frustration that the replacement IMS 4.7 tank is leaking worse than the first one i bought this year. IMS has been gracious about sending me another tank, but seriously this is annoying. Anyone else with this situation?

Yes, same thing happened to me: the first tank seeped slowly at the beginning, but got worse over a couple of months until it reached the point where it was dripping.

The replacement tank they sent me seeped a bit, but it has not deteriorated over time, so I might actually keep it if it does not get any worse.

As you discovered, the IMS guys provide outstanding support. Yes, it is annoying, but there really is no alternative.

Can you tell us where the seep is. I smell petrol most times when I approach the bike but figured it was from the tank breather. I have not investigated for e leak yet.

According to IMS, the leaks come from bubbles in the brass fittings:



Examine your brass fittings carefully, and if you see sizeable bubbles, then the tank needs to be replaced.

The devil is in the details of course, and it all depends on the size of the bubbles. The second tank they sent me also has bubbles, but they are very small, and after some initial seepage, I can no longer detect any leaks. So for the time being I am keeping the tank, but if any leaks develop, I'm sure IMS will take care of it.
