Hi I have a 2013 Wr250r which I was given to for my 13th birthday (three years ago), since then I have put 4700km on the bike and loved every single one of them, I recently ordered spoke skins for the bike and I know its not required to take the front and rear wheel off but I would like to, to check the bearings but after trying to take out the rear axle its become sized or something (its been out before and greased) I don't know if its from water getting in there or whatever but I would like to hear if you guys had a solution to my problem.

thanks, Nick

Wind the axle nut back a bit from the adjuster, about 3mm should be enough, and hit the nut with a soft hammer, leather or rubber. Brass will probably damage the castellated nut. When the nut is against the adjuster again, wind it back again & repeat wit the hammer. Do this until the nut is about 2/3 off the axle. Any more & you risk damaging the threads. Time now for a drift. Brass is best, and smaller diameter than the axle. Support the wheel so the axle is always perfectly aligned. Good luck.

How long since the last time the axle was removed and greased?

Has the bike been ridden through deep water routinely?

I'd remove the rear wheel and re-grease the axle, spacers, and the oil seals at least once a month if you routinely do that.
I'd re-grease the swingarm pivot and shock linkage bearings and related parts, too.
